Size of explorer window19 Apr 2007 21:58 GMT1
Vista Ultimate explorer window is too small for me. I have to resize it
larger each time I explore a folder. How do I get it to open in the larger
size with the fields as wide as when I last closed it? Folder options does
not affect this.
no thumbs.db...  slow vista thumbnail read...19 Apr 2007 07:58 GMT1
In a folder with thumbnail images, why is that folder read and re-read each
time the folder is opened?  There are large amounts of lost time waiting for
images to appear...
In the 'old' system, thumbs.db was a wonderful thing and very fast...
My most used programs resetting constantly19 Apr 2007 03:35 GMT4
I recently bought a new laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium installed on
it. From the very start of using Vista, my start menu has not functioned
correctly. It works fine, and all of my favourite most used programs save on
the start menu as they should (I do have the option ...

no SATA drivers = slow copying?19 Apr 2007 02:44 GMT5
I, too, experience the terrible file copying performance (zip files are
ridiculously slow, and HD to HD operations are still any only 5-13 MB/sec)...
In Device Manager, it would appear that I have no SATA devices, even though
my drive is a SATA 3.0 Gb/s.  My drive is being ...
desktop icons18 Apr 2007 17:27 GMT2
My desktop underwent a change today.  I lost several icons, and the remaining
ones "doubled" (2 of everything) and they appear to be the icons that were
originally loaded (the computer is less that 2 weeks old).  When I delete one
icon, its "twin" is still there, but inoperable.  ...

Got a big problem. Since I bought my pc, everytime I try to move folders
from one to the other, or files from folder to folder etc... be it via a
normal drag and drop or via a batch command, the menu Edit in Windows
Explorer is grey, ctrl+a stops working, drag and drop more than ...
Size of Temporary Internet Files is 5Gb after deleting from IE18 Apr 2007 00:43 GMT6
I have been doing some housekeeping on my vista home premium laptop,
when I noted that I seemed to be using a huge amount of disk storage
for which I could not account.
I traced a huge 5Gb of it to the C:\Users\Gordon\AppData\Local

I am beginning to test Vista for a planned deployment in July and have
run into an odd situation.
I've created a test GPO and am trying to enable the "Administrative

Vista  default tree?17 Apr 2007 15:59 GMT3
I'm trying to find out what the file tree would contain and how it is
arranged, if I had installed Vista Home Premium on my new machine and hadn't
done anything else.  If you wonder why I'd like to know, here is the why.
Over the years I've been using computers, from DOS on to Vista ...
Permissions17 Apr 2007 11:07 GMT1
I uninstalled a program but not all the folders and files were removed, so I
need to delete them manually. For some reason, even though I'm the
Administrator I don't have the necessary permissions, and when I try to add
the permissions, Windows gives me an error saying I can't ...
Edit the Toolbar16 Apr 2007 22:10 GMT2
Is there any chance the folder toolbar can be edited (maybe a third party
app) so you can add things like Delete, Move To, Copy To, etc. It is an
extra click when you have to go to the Organize menu for these options.
How do I delete a damaged ocx?16 Apr 2007 21:53 GMT3
How do I delete a damaged ocx from downloaded program files?
If I select the file then click "organise", then "delete" nothing happens -
no messages, nothing. The control just stays there. Now that is really bad
programming - at least I should get an error message.
deleting files in "virtuial store"16 Apr 2007 21:45 GMT3
I have noticed that even though I have removed programs from the computer I
find that they are still in the following location.
C:\users\Computer-user\appdata\local\virtual store\program files
\program data
