I have Vista ultimate on a partitioned hard drive (C:).  The other partition
is a Windows XP OS (D:).  I would like to trim down the D: drive to a more
reasonable size; my first estimates (when reformatting) were a little high.
I want to take some space away from D: and allot ...
Single click to open the tree in the Explorer29 Jun 2007 19:24 GMT4
Is there a possibility to set the Windows Explorer so, that a single click on
a node's name in the navigation tree opens the tree?
This behaviour was working in Windows XP and was much better than now in
Vista where we need to find first the little tiny arrows on the left.

Amidst thinking I may have lost the files in my C Drive while upgrading from

immediately after the upgrade I had used 44 Gigs of my harddrive. Now it's
saying I've got close to over 80 gigs of used space ...

Customizing Windows Explorer toolbars28 Jun 2007 22:57 GMT4
Just installed Vista. Not terribly wild about it so far. Willing to give it a

A recent Microsoft note '8 timesaving tips for Windows Vista and the 2007
Microsoft Office release' pointed me to a way of previewing a file etc,

Searching all files in a folder for a string.27 Jun 2007 22:52 GMT3
I keep some customer documents, Excel and Word files, in a folder. The folder
is on a network share.
Periodically I need to search these documents for the presence of a string
of text. This is simply, quickly and intuitively done in XP.

contents, just need to have it restored as it was ...
Disabling Thumbnail caching27 Jun 2007 01:40 GMT2
Back in the XP days, Windows would generate a thumbs.db file to cache your

there was a folder option to disable it.  Now, in Vista, it seems thumbs.db
