I don't know if anyone can answer a simple(ish) question I have. Is it possible for legacy XP hardware drivers to cause disk file problems with Vista to the extent that chkdsk needs to run? I'm using Vista with a Samsung PATA drive and a nforce2 motherboard.

I bought a new Window Vista-based PC and tried to open and re-write a file of a Word / Excel application, but seemed those applications in Window Vista style looked so weird to me. I couldn't do my work there because I couldn't find any features used to be in Windows XP.

I recently deleted some downloads but the shortcuts still show up when I type the name into search. The path is recent items (c:\users\admin\appdata\roaming\microsoft\windows) but when I attempt to delete the file, I get an error message saying that

In Vista click on any .htm file - Box appears: "Windows cannot find 'D:\file.htm'. Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again" and a ping sounds - The .htm file immediately opens and the box remains until its OK button is pressed. Very irritating! So how to stop ...

This morning I accidentally deleted my "Pictures" sub-folder. It didn't show up in the recycle bin and now I cannot find it. It is quite important, is there anyway to retrieve these files? Thanks!

I have a friend who I installed windows vista home basic for. I have home premium and the recent items works fine but on home basic it just says empty. I have tried everything possible to make it work but I can't find the source of the problem. Can anybody help??
