How to set *one* standard view for all existing AND new folders in Windows Explorer?20 Jan 2008 09:54 GMT6
Using the Windows XP Explorer, I was able to set one view for all
folders, that remained intact forever for the user who set it.
In Vista I tried to achieve the same result by arranging one folder the
way I wanted all folders to look like (using the detail-view), and then

the recent documents, recent E-mail, recent music and so on files?  Thank you.
Calculating Time Remaining20 Jan 2008 01:03 GMT4
Does anyone know a way around the "Calculating Time Remaining" when moving
large files around on my PC? I've tried the hotfix and some registry edits
but nothing seems to work. I rip DVD's of church services to WMV files.
These files are 150 to 250 megs each. Usually I have to ...
Copy And Paste Handling20 Jan 2008 01:03 GMT2
Can this system be changed back to the XP style? The current "Calculating
Time Remaining" is uneccessary and slows the whole process up, something  I
do very frequently, I'd rather it just copied the file/s instead of telling
me how long it will take, as it's never overly ...

Giving the Start Menu more recent programs without changing its si19 Jan 2008 23:14 GMT2
If anyone knows of a better place to send suggestions to Microsoft from, I'd
love to know where.
My suggestion is minor, but would be categorized under making windows more
user friendly. I personally do not like a big start bar, at the same time I
Folders always shown in Details view18 Jan 2008 19:24 GMT1
When I open Windows Explorer in Vista Basic it opens in "Details" view. I
change it to "List" and most of the time it opens in List view after that,
but not always. Is there a way to change all folders to open in "List" view
instead of changing each one as I open it?
Why is it that......Folders always becoming  Alphabaptised in Vis18 Jan 2008 18:31 GMT6
Does anyone know how you can stop your folders from becoming
alphabatized as soon as you name a folder? It never used to do that
with XP and I wonder if there is a way to stop it.
Thanks for any help on this matter.
Changing the file editor18 Jan 2008 15:33 GMT2
Under Windows XP I could associate different programs to do different actions
on each file type, e.g. open, print, edit etc.  These actions would appear on
the context (right click) menu for files of that type.
Now I want to change HTML files to edit with my own editor rather than ...
View details in Windows Vista Home Edition.18 Jan 2008 13:52 GMT3
I hope this is an appropriate place to ask this question. After searching every help file I could find I've been unable to even find a reference to my problem.
I prefer to list all my folders and their contents in detail view. After going to that view there is then a drop down ...

(microsoft money 2003) goes.  I first unzipped to my desktop but ugh, all the

Second, how do I make it a real program, ie. ...

Update:  Deleting Vista17 Jan 2008 13:36 GMT1
I just called Acer.  I purchased recovery disks for ny computer for
$32.00.
Installing xp was not a good idea.  The 73 dollars I paid for xp was a
waste.  Vista recognizes my Atheros wireless as AR 5007eg.  XP sees it
How to set File Associations for Open and Edit17 Jan 2008 11:24 GMT5
How does one set the file type associations for the Open and Edit options in
the menu that appears when I right click on a file?
Vista seems to have hidden the FileTypes tab in the options dialog of
WinExplorer.
DFS Replication17 Jan 2008 09:33 GMT2
What is the purpose of DFS Replication?
I use this on my Windows 2003 R2 server, but I don't see how this plays in
