DVD-RW16 Jul 2008 17:01 GMT1
Could you please activate Drag'n'Drop for formatted DVD-RWs in the Windows
Explorer? Everytime I try to drag a file into the DVD's directory, there is a
red circle and I can't paste the file. But if I create a new file, it works.
If I try to save files with other applications, ...
File Types & Folder Templates16 Jul 2008 11:01 GMT1
The folder template scheme in Vista is intriguing: always remember
pictures as extra large, docs as list, etc ...
So here's the next question:  can you specify which file types qualify
as a picture or a doc.
Use of These Newsgroups15 Jul 2008 17:59 GMT3
Is there a Discussion Group somewhere dedicated to use of these groups?
- I normally select "Notify me of replies". I'll get an email with two links
(one to "Read the Response" and another to "Continue receiving notifications
for this thread...".

All of my personal files listed on the c drive are unaccessable.  The
folder for documents is there, pictures, but when I open the folder the
message is that the folder is empty.  When I right click to get the
properties there appears that the stuff is there, I just cannot access
Overview of Vista File Management vs. XP15 Jul 2008 07:56 GMT6
I am new to this forum and I am pleased there is such a forum to answer
Vista questions. I have owned Vista Ultimate since it came out, but have
not used it until now. I am trying to get used to the the way Vista

diverting directories makes the target disappear15 Jul 2008 03:47 GMT1
I am using a Dutch version of Vista, so apologies for possibly not using the
correct terminology. But Vista allows users to divert, to re-locate the
storage of the personal directories such as Documents and Pictures to another
disk than the c-drive. However, when I follow the ...
explorer moves files, but doesn't remove source folders14 Jul 2008 18:25 GMT1
Has anyone noticed that when moving a folder structure in explorer, it will
move all the files and keep the structure intact, but not deleted the
original folders?
If I move, say 20 folders in a tree from one system to another, I see the
How to organize documents?14 Jul 2008 15:06 GMT2
I like to have my documents grouped by type and I accidentally un-did it! Can
anyone tell me how to reorganize my documents by type? I have gone into the
"view" menu, but "organize by type" isn't an option like it was in XP.
Thanks for any help.
Search Index14 Jul 2008 10:56 GMT1
How long does it take the search index to complete.  I would like to search
file for content in my computer.  The index automatically builds Outlook,
Users, etc, but other locations I have entered like a partitioned D: drive

cannot delete old DOS file14 Jul 2008 05:42 GMT3
I have an old DOS file on my computer called Mona.exe which is only 41KB.
It was basically a little joke program which made the Mona Lisa lose her

that it had been transferred to my new Vista system along ...
Search results unreliable14 Jul 2008 05:37 GMT3
I had two wab files, one in a folder under my user folder, and one under
my AppData\Local\Microsoft\Address Book. I tried searching for *.wab on
my c drive and "everywhere". I included non-indexed, hidden and system
files. The search did not find the wab file under
Missing Search Option on Right click in Explorer14 Jul 2008 04:26 GMT1

click on a folder, drive letter etc. All other alternatives that should
be there are available as they should. Could someone assist in how to
enable this again. Windows register setting???
where are files downloaded from IE automatically saved to?14 Jul 2008 03:38 GMT9
Here's the deal:
I downloaded a Word document from my gmail account and edited it.  When I
was done with my edits, I closed Word.  The program asked me if I wanted to
save changes to the file, and I said "yes."  Word then closed.  Only then did
Search inside files skips php files?14 Jul 2008 00:40 GMT2
I have thousands of html, javascript and php files and I'm looking for files

.php files even though there are plenty of files ...
