On a clean install, I kept getting error message "R300 stopped responding, but recovered" or some such, or a complete freeze-up of my comp. I've since forced the AGP in the BIOS to run at 4x, unstead of 8x, and it has been perfectly stable through the weekend.

I use the IDE Controller CMD 0649 chipset for my DVDRRW optical rives the controller is capable of ATA 100. Device Manager shows it as PIO mode 4 & the Enable DMA box is disabled. Editing the registry manually I am able to change to DMA mode but it resets
