User password required when backing up to network folder14 Oct 2008 14:25 GMT-
I have a home LAN with two Vista-computers. When trying to backup the
newest computer to a Buslink drive on the other computer, I am blocked
because a user name and password is not provided for access  to the
folder.

I am trying to get the Offer Assistance functionality enabled between
two Vista Business SP1 that are in a single domain.  No firewalls, no
VPN, can ping via name and IP address, can connect to remote desktop
but when you try to Offer Assistance it says "Your offer to help could

I'm seeing an issue in Vista SP1 where the computer is getting dns servers
and search list through DHCP.
If the DHCPv6 server is sending corp.microsoft.com then the actual Vista
Client is showing

I looked around and havent seem to be able to find this direct issue.  I
am on a college campus and trying to add my xbox360 as an extender onto
my vista computer.
I am running windows vista home premium32bit.

I create a share on Vista or Windows 2008 SP1. No one accesses this share
from network. After some time folder for this share becomes locked.
You can see in Process Explorer that System process has opened file handles
for each shared folder.

I am currently trying to use my vista home machine with media player
11 as a upnp server. I have done this in the past with the same
machine running xp with no problems.
