Earlier tonight, I was able to get my laptop straightened out after having
been turned off and ignored for two months. I was dreading the ordeal of
getting a mess with a bungled install fixed.
Got it all straightened out. I then connected a brand new backup drive,

I bought a new computer on the 23 of September and every thing works fine
except for the power options and screensavers will not go to sleep at the
set time or turn off the monitor and the screensavers do not start either

Folks:
I have a Gateway Notebook. I have been having some video problems. (
Temporary have screen video on startup, a blank white box left on desktop
after closing message box)

.. it goes through the motions and all my peripherals power down, but i
have to use the power button in order to get it to actually turn off.
Everything's good when i power back on though.. just as if it had

am I correct in saying that DVD video's won't run using WMP11 on a vista
home basic laptop... because whenever I try it I get an error, I can
play DVD's back using my old PowerDVD but even with that installed and
ffdshow codec utility I still can't get them to play using WMP?

I am working on a Dell Vostro 1500 laptop for a friend that is about a year
