Hey all, I was wondering with all this security that is being talked about, can anyone tell me if a normal account could type in regedit or regedit32 from a run line without it prompting to enter the admin password?

I have a problem registering a simple in-process COM object. The object registers OK on Windows XP Professional, but fails when an attempt is made to register it on Vista (CTP 5308). I ran the debugging tool "ntsd" and it produced the following output:

I dicovered a strange behavior of the CreateProcess() implementation under Vista Beta 2. I tried to run a Process with requestedExecutionLevel="requireAdministrator" from within a process with level="asInvoker".

From Vista documentation, it seems whenever an application tries to write inside a protected part of the filesystem, virtualization will kick in and the write would succeed, through redirection. Does that mean all writes inside "Program Files" etc. would always succeed, and the ...

Has anybody been able to install a Digital ID on a 64-bit version of 5308? It hasn't worked for me yet. There appears to be an incompatability with the VB Scripting engine and/or the browser. I've tried certificates from Comdo, VeriSign, and Thawte.
