I am trying to reformat the Vista HD so I can install XP Pro.  I am the only

I performed a clean install of Vista and am now experiencing random system
freezes that last 20-60 seconds and then the system resumes like nothing
happened.  The system is a Dell Dimension E520, Core 2 Duo, 1 gb RAM.

Here's my situation. I grew weary of waiting for the free HP "EXPRESS"
upgrade to Vista and bought a retail upgrade and installed it on my laptop.
Home premium, runs great. Someday soon I hope to get my "express" upgrade
which I'm sure is OEM.

I have two HDs which are spanned.  I'm currently running Vista 64 bit, but
need to downgrade to 32 bit due to some software compatability problems.  
(FYI - Microsoft offers a 45 day exchange on Vista 64).
