Is it possible to go from windows 32 bit to windows vista 64 bit in a clean
install or do i need to previously have windows xp 64 bit?

I purchased Ultimate and have been running the 32bit version.  I just did a
complete system backup and want to reinstall Vista using 64bit.  I'm not sure
exactly what I'm doing and want to make sure that I can reinstall all the
data I just backed up.  Can anyone help?

MS is going to have all manner of problems with XP unaware of the new
Vista boot manager.  Could they not update XP/Win2K to at least be
aware of them, and avoid clobbering them?

I have a Dell XPS 700, it came preinstalled with XP Pro/Media Center Edition
2005.  I also have previous versions of windows from other computers (xp home
