I've got a custom winpe image that I'm building that has a script start on boot. After the script runs, I may want to then install Vista on the harddrive. I thought that wpeinit.exe was responsible for this but running it from the disc does not start the installer.

I have UAC enabled. I'm wondering if I could force an application to run non-elevated, be it either an installer that I want to install to VirtualStore, or a file with the word 'setup' in it's name that's not really an installer.

if I use the upgrade version will I be able to do a clean install or will I always have to have a previous version of windows installed before I can use vista? I am just wondering as I would like a clean install and am afraid I cannot get that with the upgrade? Thanks in advance!

Got a Product Key from MSDN subscription for Vista Enterprise, did run installation above Vista Home Premium and got an error message: "Windows installation has encountered an error and needs to be restarted" Did try the same couple times and no luck.

I have a similar problem that tutylion had. I can download itunes/quicktime but when I try to install it, I get error 2738 and says try again later. Anyone know why?

My friend copied and transferred all his files from his old XP Pro computer under c:\documents and settings\jdoe\my documents into the new computer that's got Vista on it to: c:\users\jdoe\ however, they don't show up. You can "search" for them & find them and you can open
