I get a popup box saying this every time the computer starts.  Then it says

When my system returns form hibernation it opens a window containing the root
directory of my external hard drive.  The manufacturer (LaCie) says it must

I have noticed that in my notification area that is always an icon present
for 'downloading', regardless of whether I have any applications open. I am
not, to my knowledge, downloading anything, so I am unsure as to why this
