The xp 'search' command might have been slow, but at least it found the
files I was looking for. The Vista version is quick, but cannot find files I
know to exist.
Can I get the xp version of search back ?

ok,, i have installed xp sp2 32 bit onto a sata h/drive. its run perfect, i
then install vista 64 bit onto another sata hard drive,, (not a partition,,
another sata drive) vista now runs perfect, when i go to my computer, i can
see all drives and access all files in xp from vista ...

I opened up the Vista Font manager and was shocked to find there were over
1700 fonts installed on my system. Won't this many fonts impact the my
system's capabilities just as it does in other Windows versions?  I suspect
most of these were installed as a result of 2 word ...

I have a couple of shared folders I want anyone on my internal network
to be able to access. I thought I had set up the permissions correctly
but they still get access denied messages. How can I share to
everyone? I have given the everyone group full contro but my daughter

Can someone explain why the Vista backup program, which is supposed to be an
"incremental" backup, is backing up all my applicable files each time, taking
a full 2 or 3 hours, and filling up my backup hard drive??? I know have 4

cPetty I know, but I'm trying to learn to live with my new Vista WMP 11. All
seems to be OK so far. Could someone give me a clue as to how to change the
lite-blue background to a darker color like gray. The screen doesn't give

hi,  i see there is a way to modify power plans as to sleep modes and such
whether the computer is on ac or battery power.
is there a way to have it be on balanced/low performance while on battery
and high performance while on ac?

My new Laptop has vista and a trial home and student office. Trial has run
out and from my old/unusable computer I have an XP office version. If I
uninstall home and student can I run office Xp version on vista?
