i'm running Vista Home Premium and my CPU is periodically used by the services LocalSystemNetworkRestricted and Dcomlaunch (svchost), having load peaks up to 30% every 6 seconds more or less. This is really annoying since they don't allow me write a text without interruptions. ...

I have bought the Vista Home Premium upgrade, and have ordered the 64-bit DVD. Now I was wondering if I am allowed to install only one of them, or if I can use them both (I think I'll be needing the 32-bit version now and then for software that's not compatible with a 64-bit OS, ...

The wife bought a new laptop with Vista Home (wanted XP, but everything came with Vista!). Unfortunately, all her desktop publishing programs aren't Vista compatible & we don't want to buy the latest versions of everything.

I am unable to shut down my PC as for some unknown reason it is no longer possible to select shut down or any other option from the fly-out shut down menu accessible from the start menu. Does any one know the fix?

I recently changed from XP to Vista. My problem is that now I can't get the computer to run software that from the old XP days. For example, a two disk set of all the New Yorker cartoons is not acceptable to Vista. Is there anything I can do about this?
