i hav a new asus lappy with the main hd drive partitioned in 2 plus recovery section (as it comes), and 2 external usb hdd in enclosures. am running vista ultimate, i am the administrator of the system, only user, no guest accounts. UAC is off.

A few days ago I started getting an annoyong "default beep" sound in certain programs. ie - when I select articles in Gravity news reader and when I select channels in my TV tuner program. I don't know what caused this to start. How can I stop it?

I've just got a new computer with Vista. I want to set up a dual boot system so that I can also access XP. I have read that this is much easier to do if XP is the first OS, followed by installing Vista, but I can't do that.

I have a dual core processor but in device manager under computer it reads ACPI X64 BASESD PC should it not say ACPI X 64 multiprocessor pc or somthing along thoses lines like xp did ?. Both cores are showing up in task manager but i think vista has the wrong ACPI driver installed

There is only 2GB of free space on my 105GB c: drive. However all the files consume only 40GB. Using a WinDirStat utility I found that there's an <Unknown> area of 64GB. I switched off making shadow copies and there are no restore points available.
