is there any chance to make changes in the restart & shutdown process
of vista itself? i need to first disconnect an usb-device before
restarting or shutting down - otherwise i´ll end up in a bluescreen. at
the moment i´m using a batchfile for shutting down (devcon-command to

Here is my scenario:
- Two computers running Windows Vista.  Both HP computers, with OEM
Vista.  One is a laptop.
- I have a program, legacy (older) software, that I installed on

I have an XP system with a lot of applications.  I ordered a new
laptop that will come with Vista.  I would like to be able to transfer
all my applications as seamlessly as possible to the new system.  What

I hope someone can explain this for me.
All in all everything is fine, but today something strange happened. I
restarted my PC and after the green bars (below text: Microsoft Corporation)

I've noticed that this support page and a few others like Google Mail are
extremely slow to load.  Most pages with this broadband connection are
lightning fast.  I've tried disabling McAfee components and that doesn't
solve the problem.  Any recommendations?

Vista Home Premium.
Where can I find a log file, if I'd like to find out, if someone else has
logged in or even tried to log in to my computer - home computer, no
LAN/server connection. Only ADSL.

Whenever I try to download an attachment on any email client (not
Windows Mail) in Internet Explorer 7, the download window opens and
stalls. The download size does not show or anything; it shows no
specific information but stays the same constantly.

some problem whit nmbgmonitor.exe. I checked the net and that exe has

I install all features of IIS 7 but if i type http://localhost/ i get an

When I try to burn an ISO or IMG file with DVD DEcrypter it burns fine to
about 30% and then the buffer goes to zero for a long time before it fills
at starts burning again. Is this a problem with DVD Decrypter only?

I have a new Fujitsu-Siemens Esprimo laptop with OEM Vista Home Basic.
I have not previously used Vista, but I have used most versions of
Windows from 3.1 on. I installed Linux Ubuntu under a dual-boot with
