I want to access my desktop (with a router) using my notebook (laptop) in another room. Putting firewall/security considerations aside, do you recommend a wireless router or a hard wired router.

My wireless network card (Linksys G w/speedboost) connects/works fine for internet surfing but the taskbar wireless network icon with the radio waves on it has the red X for no connection. WIN XP- SP2, Linksys G speedboost router.

If a user clicks "Disconnect" from a preferred SSID that is hidden (non-Broadcasting SSID) via "View Available Wireless Networks" panel the SSID shows "Manual" in the preferred SSID list. The only way to connect to the SSID again is to delete and recreate which is very annoying. ...

I have a Belkin wireless router, all working well. I have added a Belkin wireless USB print server, the only issue is, it only supports WEP encription, and this method of security doesn't appear to be stable for me????

My son's computer lost its ability to connect to the internet. After troubleshooting I find that the firewire (1394) is missing. How do I get this back? The computer (PC Clone - WinXP) can see and connect to the wireless network, but it won't connect to the internet.
