I have a really basic Q!: Must I have a broadband connection (and appropriate modem) in order to set up an ad hoc network?? I simply want to go wireless from my laptop to my printer. I have a wireless printer server (802.11G) and even a router that I can use. Thanks!

I have a wireless network set up at home between my laptop and my desktop. I used to be able to transfer files between the two by placing any files into a folder? But for some reason this folder has just disappeared, and I can no longer transfer files.
