The subject says it all. No wireless router, but connecting to other computers. Well, not really all. I have inbuilt wireless on my Compaq Presario M2000. If I push the WLAN switch on my computer, and choose 'Ad hoc (computer-to-computer)', it connects, but to whom and where?

I have Vista and XP Pro on separate hard drives on my computer called Desktop 1. I am able to network a Sony laptop wirelessly so the Sony can view the Public Folder on the Vista HD and also share a printer. The Linksys Wireless-G router I have is hooked up to a DSL modem.
