i installed microsoft word which wrote over my documents
saved in microsoft works when i go into the microsoft
works program it goes to note pad and all documents are
garlbled...it says it cant find microsoft works anymore

I have read everything I can find in the knowledge base on
this.  I must be looking in the wrong place.  Somehow a
friend of mine turned this option on and cannot turn it
off.  There is no clickbox, no control panel option,

At start up 3 screen appear.  They look like DOS files.  
they are called 1.  diagnostic traces  2.  Drvmcdb.  and
3.  Dispatch\??\tfsifs.
How can I stop them from appearing on my screen at
