I am a police officer which obtained a laptop with windows
xp loaded.  The former user (recently fired) set up a user
account and password.  How do I bypass this?  He is
disgruntled and will not help.

I was working with my hp pavilion laptop today and shuts
it down early on.  But later when I turned it on, it was
asking for a user password all of a sudden.  I do not
recall setting up a password to log on to windows.  Now, I

When my computer is left for about 10 minutes, it takes
me to the screen where we can choose wich account to log
on to.....im still loged on to my account, wich is good,
but how can i stop them taking me back to that screen

to access.  I need to key in a password; however, the
screen locks up and won't let me enter anything...or even
shut down without hitting the restart button on the

yesterday i created another user for the computer. I
could switch back and forth. When i shut the computer
down last nite. I had a window that said if i shut down
user will lose unsaved data. I clicked continue. Today i

my connection is being slowed down from 700 kbps to 40kbps any suggestions?
i have all ready removed worm viruses with symnatec removal tool and no more
can be detected but still my connection and computer are lagging like a 100

I have a brand new HP Multimedia Computer running XP.  
When I access the internet through Dial-up, it will stay
on line for a few minutes but eventually I encounter the
following error and the computer shuts down in 50s:

My computer shuts down every few minutes.....A box comes
up and says systemis now shutting down....authorized by
NT authority/system....then has a countdown box.....under
that it says Remote Procedure Call service terminated
