I have a new computer and want to install Microsoft

First I was having trouble with IE because the opening logo appears and then it takes many minutes to open the email. Now I notice that it also takes too long to open these windows when I access them. Any suggestions for an amateur computer user? I don't wish to do anything that ...

I can nolonger change from double click selection to single ckick selection because the single click choice is grayed out. Also the restore feature will not let me go back in time. how do I get back to single click selection?
