When i start windows screen  appears black  and only  the pointer can be seen  Can anybody help me

I have a customer trying to right click on the start
button that causes the system to hang. The only way to
correct this is by CTRL-ALT-DEL and use the task manager
to shutdown or reboot the system. What may cause this

i'm set up as the administrater on my machine and forgot
my password what do i do.

It looks like all the files I marked as "shared" while
attempting a direct cable connect transfer of files to
new computer were somehow lost. During the attempt, the
guest computer indicated connection, but the host files

The uninstall folder within regedit is missing.  The
program will start up but the option of uninstalling

When I start Disk CleanUp It runs for about
30 to 45sec and then my computer Freezes.
XP Home 512 ram 80g Hard drive.
