After downloading e-mail, I am unable to open and access

i had to use system recovery last week because of all the spyware thats out
there.  when i restarted my computer, i cant get either cd drive to read the
discs.....ive talked to tech support and they cant find a reason for

Went on vacation and all was well. Got back and can,t

When I try to open the task manager I only can manage
taks in the programs tabs.  The other tabs are not
functioning.  Also, I cannot quit out of the task manager
normally, I have to right click on the running programs

Since installing XP Pro I can no longer play DVD movies.  The computer doesn't even acknowledge I have a DVD movie in the drive. I can still play CDs with data files, music files and view pictures... and I can still write to CD's. But no DVD movies.  Any idea on what happend? And ...

Ok my XP install was playing up so i ended up formatting
one HDD and installing there so i wouldn't lose work files
and other stuff that were in My Documents on the other
install.

I run Windows XP.  When I right-click on the Task Bar,
my 'Task Manager' is grayed out.  I have reason to believe
that it is either a policy or somthing in the registry.  
Does anyone know how to reenable 'Task Manager'?
