I tried to use Microsoft Recovery system but it always come back to say "your computer cannot be restored to ..." I tried again many times choosing different restore points, but the result is the same: restoration is unsuccessful.

I just installed a copy of the new divx player and it asking me for direct 9x so i went to microsofts website and now it is asking me for a validation code. besides the microsoft website where can i get direct 9x to?????

my laptop will no longer display the desktop or any icons the system seems to boot up as it is visible and accessible to others on the network, but on screen only the mouse cursor is visible, everything else is blank, the mouse appears to operate normally.

Recently, when starting my computer, the process has begun taking me about 5 minutes for my computer to get to the XP desktop screen. Nothing was changed (that I am aware of) and I also went back 2 weeks and did a system restore hoping it would return to it's historical load ...
