Can access interner sites no problem, problem is when I try to enter secure web site, ie. bank, hotmail acc. etc. no go. Are my settings wrong,? just installed AVG, dont know if this has anything to do with it.

My friend's PC wont shut down in the normal fashion -start - shut down etc. An error message quickly apears and dissappears and the system re-boots - it has to be shut down manually. He ran windows repair with disc - anti-virus up-to-date, no virus's detected.
