recently my win file manager (explore.exe) stopped closing down completely, leaving itself active in task manager & thereby preventing it from being opened again. I must open task manager & manually kill explore.exe before I can use it again. This almost makes explore.exe useless ...

I have XP Sp2 , without any domain, just workgroup at home. I can't get to the login screen, I just see the XP logo and I tried the "f8" and start in last good and safe mode and still get stuck and don't see the "login" screen

i know there is a way to find my keycode once the software is installed, but the sticker on my laptop is unreadable (why they put it on the bottom i will never know), any ideas on how to get the keycode off the disk? i'm sure it's encrypted but short of paying for something i own ...

I allowed my system to shut down normally and then shut off the computer. When powering it back up I get a message "A READ ERROR HAS OCCURRED", and windows will not come up. I ran the western digital "quick scan" on the "C" drive with no errors.
