cannot find my address book. It's in there, because when I try to add a
known address, it tells me that address is already there. But I can't find

I have a new PC with XP pro 64bit installed and its driving me mad!
The machine seems to work just fine but with one rather annoying exception.
The only applications that will take keystrokes are 'Internet Explorer
(64-bit)' and 'notepad'.

I backed up a lot of files to an external drive using XP's backup utility.  I
did a clean windows xp install.  When I try to resore the files it won't let
me select any of the files I backed up.  I have to be able to get these files
back.  Can someone help me PLEASE!

I, too, have been having problems getting my system to recognize Flash
Drives.  I am getting the message 'USB Device not recognized.  One of the USB
devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not
recognize it'.

It seems that my windows explorer has gone missing or been deleted.
Is there any way that I can retrieve it?  When saving photos to a disc
or device, I like to use windows explorer as it is universal - I
looked for it but all I found was an empty shortcut.

Hi - when I started my PC this morning, any application/program (IE, Outlook,
Word) I would open I would get the pop-up asking which program did I want to
open it with.
Once I picked a program, nothing would happen or I get a message

Up until last Friday, my Windows XP Home system worked great.  Some time on
Friday, the system crashed, and Ihave worked feverishly through the weekend
to get the system back up.  I am very close, but stuck now.
I have been able to recover all files using Norton Systemworks 2005 ...

I hope someone can help me.
My pc was working fine till some friend of mine inserted her USB in my pc
and a virus appeared in my system.
I ran a full system scan and the pc seem to work OK after that.

I can open control panel, and most tasks in CP, but Add and Remove Programs
won't open. I get an hourglass cursor, but then it disappears and task

Hello. I had to do a clean install of XP Home. I reformatted the drive, all
seems well but i cannot connect to the net. I cannot even activate windows.
There is a second computer attached to the router and it works fine. That
would mean the problem is somewhere in the network ...
