I just installed a 120G HD partitioned it into 3 drives, but instead of pushing the CD and DVD drive letters to the end, it went around them.. so the drive letters are F:, G:, and H; instead of D:, E:, and F: ?????

No prob in device manager of win98se Not an option in device manager xp, it seems. Sure to be a way round this - I'd be glad of advice. Please tell me if I'm already being a pest - (hostage to fortune :) )

I would like to copy folders of Photos from a CD to my hard drive and be able to keep the Date of the filder the same as the folders on the CD. I do not want windows to date the copied folder with todays date.

I had to install a new boot drive but when I put in the OS setup CD I get the message that no OS could be found, insert the OS setup disk and press any key. Any ideas why I can't boot from my OS CD?

I have not been able to complete a simple hard disk files transfer exercise using Windows XP Home Edition. The documentation speaks of easily being able to transfer data from hard drive to hard drive, but all I have found so far is restricted to "old computer" and "new computer" ...

Some files in my computer are written in blue text. Nothing to do with highlighting, or being a link, just the list of file names has some of them in blue. Does anyone know what this signifies?

In the folder Windows\System32 I have found a large number of duplicate files of the form *(2).dll. Where do these duplicates come from and is it safe to delete them? I assume the file without the (2) is the the current file, is my assumption correct in all cases?

My mother's computer is screwed bad. Somehow the taskbar has split the screen vertically, and I cannot move it back to the bottom horizontal. The lock taskbar is not checke. This is giving me fits. Any help appreciated. rjudd@insightbb.com
