A few days ago Windows automatic update prompted me to update the sound card
drivers on my computer.   It originally had an NVidia sound driver, after
prompting to update, I now have a Realtek sound driver.   It did list the
reasons for the update, but it is it normal for sound ...

I repaired XP yesterday, but now when I go to the Windows UPdate page, it
hangs up and I have to CRTL ALT DEL to get it off the screen.  Help!

I just upgraded from W98 to WXP HE and now I can't get my Ethernet port to
work. It shows as enabled but I can't get to the internet. I can get there
with dial up but not with my Cable modem. Any help is appreciated thanks.

if I do a right click and then choose "open with" and then "choose program"
the computer runs always the notepad application. There is no choice...

I had to do a repair on Windows XP today, and now it takes forever on the
blue start up screen.  Once it gets to the log in page, it's fine.  Does
anyone know what could be causing this?

I am using dialup to connect to internet. Today all of a sudden the
connection manager is behaving funny. My saved password appears to have been
changed -I can say it because my password contained 10 characters, but
whenever I try to connect, now it shows saved password to be 16 ...

This is probably a stupid question, but I've lost my xp installation CD (I
had to reconfig my whole computer recently and had initially installed it a
few years ago) yet still have the product key...has anyone committed this

Okay, let me ask another question:
I have Windows 98 running on C drive.
I have copied all files from my XP install CD to a folder (winxp) on D
drive.

I had a boot up error, was told only way to fix was to use system
recovery disks.  Best Buy backed up my data to two dvds.  Some things
are different and I don't know how to get them back?  So I was just
wondering if there is a way to restore the settings the way they were
