Yesterday my Sony VAIO laptop developped a strange problem (well, two,
but I think they are related).

I'm having a little problem with my sounds in control panel.  Sometimes when
I change one of the sound events with another sound, I get the error message:
an expection occured when trying to run "C:\Windows\System32\shell32.dll,
Control_RUNDLL "C:\Windows\system32\MMSYS. CPL," ...

When I login to my WinXP SP2 laptop, the System Properties dialog box
opens up with the Hardware tab selected.
I've run adaware and spybot and have Norton Antivirus as well and none
of them fix the problem.  Anyone here know how I make this stop.

An image that I need desperately was emailed to me, instead of having an
extension of .tif it has name.tif.sea, and I can not get any imaging program
to open it.  Is it corrupted?  Is there anything I can do other than have it
