While trying to uninstall Antivirus software and install another updated version some files have become corrupted. As soon as I open Windows (XP Home) I get the window Run Time Error “File ’53 Not Found”, then Run Time Error “File ’70 Access Denied”

What can one do about a CD tray that ejects on its own. When I turn the PC on, the tray pops out. It pops out at other times as well. There is no particular pattern to this crazy behavior. Any suggestions?

I believe my old computer is about to conk out. Other than my personal files, e-mail settings and downloaded software, what should I backup that will be useful or nesessary for a new computer? Am using Windows XP SP2 and will probably get another Windows XP operating

I am trying to restore some files backed up to the C drive on another machine via my LAN, but Restore says that the file contains unrecognised data and cannot be used. Both machines are running XP SP2 and were when the files were made.
