I am building a new computer from scratch and want to keep my hard drive from my old desktop that had Windows XP installed on it and transfer it into the new computer, which has no hard drive. I'm wondering if I'll need to reinstall Windows and if I do, it'll wipe

My PC OS is Windows XP Professional, service pack 2. After you created an user's account. Then you open Window Explorer you will see that user's "My Document" appear on "My Computer" under C: drive.

My PC was working fine until I just installed Norton SystemWorks. Now my browsers (IE 6.0 and Firefox) only "maximize" to the point that they only go as high as about 1 inch from the top of my monitor screen. How can I get them to be true "full screen" again.

I have Windows xp pro. When I go Start -> Turn Off Computer, it always defaults to Standby not Turn Off. How do I change the default to Turn Off ? TIA

Should this question be in only hardware, basics or general? Create a Boot CD, DVD or Floppy Disk with a Windows XP-Based Computer. Which at the preferred method? This PC has no floppy. Is there a method to create a bootable CD with files from the web?

XP Pro, SP2 If I try to add a local printer, I'm asked which port to use. I'm offered LPT1/2/3, COM1/2/3/4, File and IP ports which I've previously defined.

Since my computer crashed (thanks, MSN!) and I had XP reloaded, I have to deal with the Picture & Fax Viewer instead of the old way of bringing the pics up (I have XnView right now, but it's not the same). There was another one, but it conflicted with my CD burning software.

Probably too simple a problem but I can't seem to overcome it. Printer is installed, test page prints fine, it's on line, and it prints fine from text showing in Notepad.

I have IE6. On some web pages, I get the sound similar to a door shutting. I can't find out how to get rid of this sound. I have done the following: 1. On the pop-up blocker, I turned on the emit a sound when a pop-up is blocked.

I have XP and an Orian older monitor. It shows up as Plug and Play monitor. All of my pics whether in a photo program or on the web at shutterfly show really dark. If I brighten them using a photo program they are too light when printed. When I use my digital camera card on my ...

I got this error message after i've install windows xp pro and restarted the computer. Does anyone know if there is anyway to fix this in the windows recovery console thing (press r at the windows setup screen) thanks
