During shutdown XP shows blue screen with message "Windows is shutting down...". Computer locks up at this point and unit must be manually turned off. Any advice? Thanks!

I was downloading zip files onto a separate (Buffalo) hard drive and the power cut out. Now when I try and delete these files I gt errors such as: "Cannot read from the source file or disk". I have found posts on Google (such as below) on how to correct this but I'm assuming that

Is there a way to get the product key from the installation CD. I know there are a number of programs that pull it from the registry but none of them mention being able to get it from the CD. gls858
