If I'm browsing a folder in "My Computer" and I have a file icon
highlighted, I can run that file just by pressing ENTER.
Is there a keyboard shortcut I can use to open a highlighted text file in
NotePad for editing?  Like, CTRL-something?

On my win XP Pro, I have set systray to start at start up (per a Kelly's tip
#54) which seems to have resolved my desktop settings from getting lost on
reboot.
 My question is Shouldn't i see "systray.exe" running in Task Manager,

I recently installed a new hard drive.  My Windows is not working the way it

Whenever I try to use DOS whatever command I try to use I get the same error
'ping' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
How do I make DOS recognize my commands.

The computer freeze shortly after windows XP home is started. Works properly
if the grafic devise is not aktivated or screen solution is set below

Any idea when and if MS will issue a patch for the recent ie security
flaw? As a workaround, I tried disabling scripting (as was suggested in
several news posts) but the problem with that was that I could no longer

Whilst resetting my network setup, if it asks you if you want to enable file
and printer sharing , what would be the normal pratice, I cant remember the

I have a computer with Windows ME and another with XP. I want to copy a file
from the ME to the XP.  The original file is not read only according to the
'properties' box.  I copy the file, bring it to the XP and it doesn't
recognize the file at all.  Thanks.

I keep getting an error message when I boot up the computer. It says"invalid
boot.ini file".  Have no clue where it came from or what it means.  Can
anyone help?

I have 3 PCs (call them A, B & C) at my home all connected with wifi.
They all use XP Home SP2. They can all see each other. How do I set
things up so B can access a folder on A, but C is denied access to
that same folder?

I have cdrw's and if I put a file on the disk it than shows 0 bytes free. I
can however use IBM's Record Now program to put multiple files onto a cdrw,
(after erasing the disk) than it shows 0 bytes free after the write.
