why doe this command not work with xp?

the filenames match names shown in win explorer.
i may have to revert to win98.

My antivirus program pick up a file in this directory. Its a hidden
file.  So far I can rename it.  Can I delete without harming the

I keep losing my colour settings! it seems to have started happening when I

I had installed the first edition of Windows Defender and when the updated
version came out and I tried to install it.  I was advised to uninstall the

my finger might have slipped and I might have accidentally clicked twice,
