I am used to have the taskbar at right hand side and 3 columns large. However, when I logoff or reboot, the taskbar appears with only 2 columns, even if I have had locked it. Is there a way to effectively lock it in 3 columns?

Friend has an XP machine that is giving him the following error message when he tries to boot up... "disk read error occured, depress ctrl, alt, del to start" Of course when he hits ctrl, alt, del, it does the same thing again.

Whenever I use any program in Windows Xp and go to File/Open the default sort order for the files is in reverse alphabetical order with the folders at the bottom. How do I get the default restored so that they appear alphabetical again
