This is the fourth time I have tried to post this???
Need to eleminate some of the programs that run on startup.
How do I find them and keep them from starting up.

I seems that I have some how lost my "Show Desktop" icon in the Quick Launch
Menu on the bottom left of the screen.  Any idea how to get it back.

Help #2.  I just wrote in about my disappearing toolbar.  I then noticed my

I have a zip program instaled in my Win XP and the zipped files appear as
though they were folders. When I click on one of these files I can see the
files inside it and work on them.

I want to lock down my pc. I only want to have one account (the administrator
account). I do not want anybody else to be able to set up an account. How do
I do this?

Just out of curiosity
I leave my system on 24/7.  After a day, or so, I cannot connect to the
internet nor to my news server.  So, I reboot and all is well.  Does anyone
have a plausable explaination ??  TIA

Used to be with telstra bigpond in Australia and had something like 30,000
different newsgroups. I cant seem to remember the address but i think it had
something to do with Usenet? If someone knows how i can access the more

I have been trying to change my desktop icons to different icons.  I Right
click on the icon - click on Properties -click on Change Icon - Click on the
icon I want and it becomes highlighted - then Click OK - the icon that I
picked shows up by the web address - I Click on Apply - ...

I got this new program to do backup jobs for my files and folders
I understand the the most practical and useful type of backup to do is
INCREMENTAL backups (daily)
the result is that the location (folder) of the backup files is getting more

In any of my XP SP2 programs which have mouse over tooltip help,   the
tooltip takes too long to open.  Can I speed this process?

I've got task manager as a startup program.  The command that's run is:
 C:\WINDOWS\system32\taskmgr.exe
and it starts up however it was last in use, more or less.  But I'd
like to force it to show the Processes tab, sorted in descending cpu

I remember there was a way for a single user system to go directly to
the desktop without having to click the username on the welcome screen.
I recall that the welcome screen popped up, but it just dropped and
