is there some app on the market that I can use to open another application
with parameters.  such as open the application with a given record number.

Hello: I am running CHKDSK. I have a couple of questions:
1) When I try to run the /F option, I get a message that another
process is control of the volume. What I want to know is to find out
what process is in control?

Whenever I get an update from Automatic Update, something changes my default
e-mail program  from Outlook Express to Outlook.  So I have to go into
internet options and change it back.  Probably not the biggest problem out
there but an irritant nonetheless.  Any idea why it does ...

I have windows xp home edition w/sp2. I'm having nothing but problems with it
and what to uninstall sp2.What is the ez way?I went to control panel and than
add/remove ,all i seen was msxml.4.0 sp2. so what can I do?

Usually the taskbar displays the icon and name of the prorams that are open
on the desktop, allowing me to bounce between them by clicking on the icon.
They disappeared and I can't figure out how to get hem back. Rebooting did
not help.

I have a Sony Vaio with 60GB HDD running Windows XP.  The original HDD was
faulty and has just been replaced under Warranty.  When I look at My Computer
it shows (under Hard Disc)

Sometime in last few months, search has stopped working.
From Windows Explorer, right click a folder, and select search. Enter (for
example) a partial file name and click search. Immediately a window labeled
"Search Companion" appears with the message: "Unexpected Error / Action ...
