Win XP computer Disconnects (Dialup)11 Jan 2007 07:19 GMT2
Hello, I am dealing with a WinXP machine that disconnects from the
dialup connection and dials another number which is not listed in the
dialer under alternates.  The dialer has been deleted/recreated and not
helping.  Any suggestions?

Serious error11 Jan 2007 02:30 GMT34
My computer reboots at irregular intervals, and indicates it has "recovered
from a serious error". Other than that, it is working fine.  Any thoughts on
what the source of this is, and where I should start to look to solve it?
Thanks in advance!

Where are downloaded updates hiding?10 Jan 2007 18:31 GMT1
Dumb question of the day!  "I've set up automatic updates" to download the
updates but to not install them.  Most times when the download finishes it
shows an icon (yellow shield?) down in the task on the right side.  However,
if for some reason I don't click on it in a short ...

I just got a laptop with XP Pro, plus a lot of unwanted software. When I
go to view a picture it is opened by Corel Snapfire (a constant nagging
piece of worry). My desktop pc opens all pictures with Windows
Viewer/Fax, which is what I want to happen on my laptop.

Memory Issues10 Jan 2007 13:40 GMT6
I am using XPPro sp2 and use 1GB RAM.  Lately, my boot-up and general PC

of RAM is adequate for most people.  How do I go about improving it?
I have noticed in Task Manager when trying to load a program, it ...

Windows Vista Release10 Jan 2007 03:01 GMT16
While trying to hold out until this year's Vista's release, I am approaching
a dire need for a new desktop system.  Obviously, High Speed Internet,
decent to upscale graphics capabilities for some joystick gaming, photo and
video editing and printing are necessities, as well as ...
Backup,clone,drive image ?10 Jan 2007 02:29 GMT10
I've just had to completely rebuild my computer for the second time in less
than a month!  Luckily, I'm pretty good about backing things up so I didn't
lose any important data but I really hate having to reinstall everything and
having to reset all my preferences, etc.  I'm ...

Myh list of newsgroups has about 20 groups, some in light typeface and
others in bold typeface.  I can't see any difference between the 2.  What
determines whether a newsgroup is light or bold?
