I have a 160 gig Maxtor hard drive that lately has been making clicking
noises...I read on many sites that it could be due to bad sectors so I
downloaded PowerMax and haven't used it yet to scan and repair
sectors...is there a way to repair the bad sectors and not lose any

Hi I know how to restore but when i tried the window comes up blank white,and
it says something about only administration can restore my computer.How do I

I start up Windows XP as usual. Then the welcome screen appears. Then
just the wallpaper appears for about 50 seconds, and then everything

I'm teaching my father-in-law how to use his new Windows XP laptop. We were

When I click on My Computer, it comes up in the Windows XP style.  I have to
click on "Folders" at the top to make it display the directory tree on the
left, like Windows Explorer.  Is there a way to make this the default, so
when I click on My Computer, it opens with the folders ...

I am a newbie to XP (Pro) having used Windows98SE for years.
I need to have the output from a microphone go directly to speakers
connected to the headphone socket - but cannot find out how to achieve it!
(i.e. to use the PC as an amplifier)

I keep getting a black screen when I try to boot up. The black screen appears
after the Windows XP boot screen comes on and appears to fully load Windows.
What can I do to get beyond this black screen? Any help would be appreciated.

I'n running a program (racing sim GTL) optimized to run on one core, why does
the Task Manager Performance display show the 'CPU Usage' to be identical (at
around 50%) in both level meters at around 50%, whereas the 'CPU Usage
History' is at 100% for one core and next to nothing ...

I hope this is a WindowsXP basic problem.  I downloaded a program that I
decided I didn't want before installing it.  One of the folders cannot be
deleted.  Not only that, but Unlocker couldn't delete this folder--and this
is an empty folder!  I cannot delete it; I cannot open it ...

Can someone tell me how to get rid of bar in my toolbar? I don`t need
it and it`s only taking
up space on my screen.

when i go to empty my recycling bin i keep getting this error-
