Can I make XP SP2 recognise an additional external drive? Even when I
uninstall the two optical drives on my desktop the system will not recognise
a USB external drive. Windows Explorer assigns it a drive letter but no other
part of the system will communicate with the new drive.

I have some shortcuts to folders on my desktop and as of today when clicked

Hi-Somewhere along the line, recently, I've lost certain file associations.  
A registry optimizer may be the culprit.
  When I try to access a MS forum, it says "File does not have a program
associated with it."  If I go to folder options, what do I do?

I have a problem with svchost.exe. Sometimes it will take 100 MB in RAM and
99% of the CPU. I asked around and people said it depends on the Automatic
Update and told me to install the upgrade KB927891 and I did, but the
problems still remains
