Whenever the standard windows file dialog box opens, called from any program
whatsoever, the entries appear in reverser order; i.e., files first, in
reverse alphabetical order, followed by the sub-folders

I get strange noises from my speakers when no programmes are running, as
well as when watching video/listening to music. It sounds like a frog/
electronic raspberry blowing. It lasts about 1 second and occurs about every

I currently develop a Windows service which must perform video/audio
proccessing in realtime (with directshow and a specific board).
All work fine, but sometimes it's seem that my task is not schedule so
my processing time of 1 frame is too high and as a consequence, a

Every time I boot up the new hardware wizard starts, telling me about no
driver for a device I never use and can't get a driver for. How do I kill
this thing?

   I was looking for my recycling bin and I found that on the top left of
my desktop, there are quite a lot of icons piling up one on top of the
other.  What would cause this?  My recycling bin seems to be in that.  How
can I separate them?

For several days I have had some trouble rebooting. Sometimes it works and
other times (many more times) it fails. I get the start screen and that's
all. I have tried system restore, but, again, I get no consistent results.

Is anyone aware of a defrag app' that can "clear" the free-space on a XP
Pro boot drive, i.e. set the free space areas to hex zero, without
screwing up the regular files and OS on the disk?
Reason I need such an app' is because I am running out of disk storage

My updates are slowing my laptop down evrey time I switch it on, does anyone
know how I can fix this problem. I don't get error messages, it just uses all
my system resources indeffinetly until my laptop crashes.

Seems I remember something from far back in the dark ages of the internet
(the DOS period) that you could hover over some icon and find out how fast

I can get back to the welcome screen.  I can click a user to switch
to.  It sits there for a bit, then just jumps me back to the user tht
was logged in.
I checked the regedit for allowmultipletssusers (Or whatever it is)

The open open windows no longer show up on the Task Bar. To find what is open
or switch between windows, I need to open the Windows Task Manager. How do I
fix this problem.

I have a USB device (cell phone) that is showing up fine in Device Manager,
however, it and the computer are not communicating.  You know... when you
plug in a USB device & get the little yellow pop-up bubble at the bottom...
Anyway, I decided to uninstall & reinstall the device ...

I am trying to install AA6 on win xp (SP2, all up to date...).  There is one
user acct, as admin (as per user mngr) with guest disabled.
When installing, about 1/2 way through err pops up:
Err 1303 installer has insufficient privileges to access directory
