I live in a rural area and my only options for Internet are dialup and
satellite. After 8 years I am finally making the move to the satellite, and
want to also keep my dialup ISP as a backup. I'm not sure if this is the

I installed a new hard drive, thought the old one was dying.  Turns out
it was something else.  I've left the new drive in place but disabled it.  
Does it still run every time the pc is started?  Should I disconnect the
power wire to it?  Or just go ahead and take it out?

when I put my mouse cursor on a subject that has a long line in these
newsgroups, nothing happens. Used to be it would read the whole line
including whatever there was after the dots, but not any more. How do I
get this back
shift+2 gives me @ instead of "30 May 2007 16:09 GMT3
instead of getting @ when i press shift+' i get ". its vice versa when i
press shift+2 i get @ instead of ".
trivial problem i know but very annoying!
anyone got any ideas how to fix this?

I have no idea whether my problem is XP related,    browser related, or
ornery computer related.  Whenever I go to the New Yorker cartoon caption
site a box appears indicating that there is a "stack overflow at line:  0."
I click ok and then my browser closes.  I never get that ...

I am using Windows XP and IE 7.  I have installed several programs on a new
computer.  Each application shortcut appears with the IE icon.   How can I
get the icons to change to their normal icon?  I have done the right click,
Properties, Change icon, selected any available icon, ...

Have windows XP - home, and everytime I try to view a map on mapquest, the

I have a repeating security update (KB923723).
I tried the solution suggested in a previous post, namely deleting the
registry entries and reinstalling, but to no avail. The update pops up a few
seconds after each install.
