A small app, netmeter, shows a lot of D/L - incoming - activity. Another FW
blocked all incoming except permitted ones. Possible to run Zone Alarm,
e.g., along with Windows FW, or better to turn the windows  one off...

Looking in Event Viewer under Application there were a whole load of
warnings about Msinstaller, either 1001 under description "Kenny" (me) or
1004 under description "Network Service".  MS says no further info on these
errors.

When ever I receive e-mail through outlook express with a attachment whose
extension is .PPS. I cannot open the attachment, the message error is " This
file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action.

I have two machines running XP Home SP2. One has Dit.exe on it (not sure how
it got there) the other has not.  The one that has throws an error every
time any usb memory device is plugged into it. It puts up the dialog box
saying Dit.exe as encounted a problem and needs to close ...

When I was using Win98, I had Communicate!Lite installed as my fax
program (bundled with the faxmodem card).  It had its quirks, but I
learned to get along with it.
Now that I've (finally) upgraded to XP Pro, I'd like to continue using

I have one user account (Home) and one called Guests (which is never used).  
when is go to User Accounts in Control Panel they are all that are seen.
When I use Windows Explorer there is a duplicate account (Glenardis) which
appears to have exactly the same files as Home, ...

Using My Computer/performance/advanced I have set the following pagefiles:
(a) Disc C:  5-50MB pagefile.sys
(b) Disc D: no pagefile.sys
(c) Disk G: volume "Scratch disc" no pagefile .sys

No password is needed to log on to this computer.
