Windows messenger is really annoying me!!! I have tried umpteen times to run msconfig and remove it fom the start up list. Whenever I open Outlook Express, there it is again, despite me telling Outlook NOT to open it!! AND it's back in the start up list!!!!

Suddenly, like when I began to use the computer after booting up one morning, the computer response is very slow. Programs boot up slowly, the pointer jumps instead of moving continuously, etc. Task Manager shows two processes hogging over 90% of the CPU time --

In approx 70% of times when I log off, my PC wont shut down, it goes through proceedure to "saving your settings" and just freezes, so I have to turn off at main switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS I am 70 yrs old and trying to get to grips with I.T.
