I'm running Windows XP Media Edition (?) on my new laptop.  My last
laptop, which was fried by lightning, ran my favorite old DOS-type
program, Lotus Symphony 2.2, just fine, under Windows XP Home edition
(with service pack 2).

My computer is approximately 2 months old and now has just recently
started to slow down after 3-4 hrs of use after each bootup. I have
scanned for viruses, malware/spyware, uninstalled unecessary programs,
defragmentized the hard drive, run diskcheck and cleared cookies and

I have WinXP Pro on disc and SP 2 on another disc. If I run scandisk
from the WinXP disc and it replaces corrupt or missing files, will

It's a Syncmaster 171P.
I went to Start > Control Panels > Appearance and Themes > Display >
Settings > Advanced > Utlility Manager > Video Settings, and slid the

Lately, when I've tried to use system restore (I'm running XP pro) the
computer goes through the process, but on restart I get the message that the
restore failed. This has happened consistently on several occasions. Any

I'm having trouble removing an office 2003 trial from my computer
it seems to be nolonger on my computer but still appears in the add and
remove programs list but when i click to remove it tries to install itself
and freezes my comp for a few minutes

Two optical drives, changed them to Y & Z and a secondary SATA drive, two
partitions set as W & X
OK for a long time but now the optical drives have reverted to G & H and the
partitions on HDD to I & J. D, E & F used for another HDD.

Today, I installed several updates. However, one (KB928365) was not
installed. As I remember, some time ago, a similar problem happened. It was
resolved somehow... Does someone know how to install .NET Framework v.2

I received notification of update availability last night from Msoft. I have
never had a problem until last night.
I downloaded and ran the updates and after rebooting my machine I had a

I have a file titled "dumprep0 -k" in my Startup list, with the command

I need to reinstall Windows Xp Home on my Dell computer, but for the life of
me I can't find the disk.
I have heard that I can use any XP disk, so long as I use the registration
information that is on the sticker on the side of my computer.

I have a XP Laptop, it takes lot of time to open internet (sometimes
no response at all), I can see some processes occupies 80% of the CPU
time, if I end that task, then it is little faster, any tools to fix
this slow problem, appreciated.
