Ive been having this problem for a while. I'll be doing what ever and my
computer will do a hardshut down like the power just went out. I finnally
decide to check my error log and this is what I get.
DCOM got error "The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled

How do I create an ASR floppy without a floppy drive? I have a dvd/cd rw but
no floppy. I use the backup utility from XP to an external USB 500GB drive.

I have 2002 PC HomeXP. Will buy new PC Vista end of year. But I need a new
HP all-in-one C-7180 printer right now (present old one has u/s scanner).
Question is : if I install the new printer now with XP PC could this cause
any future annoyances (bugs) to it when I reinstall it ...

My daughter, whilst bored decided to password her screen. Trouble is the
password is so long she can't fit it all in the password box. It keeps asking
"have you forgotten your password"

Like some other people, I have problems with the add/remove programs list.  
Recently, when looking at my list, there are many many programs listed that
have no "change" or "remove" buttons.  The program size is also not shown.  I
have no idea if these are files that I need or ...

How do I get the Safely Remove Hardware icon back in the system tray?
I recently updated to XP SP2.

We are unable to copy from word to a cd/ r in our d drive.
Keep getting errors whihc state ntoify adminstrator or make sure disc isnt
copy protected.  We are using new discs but unable to copy and we have to so
we can take it elsewhere to print.

I'm trying to get my computer to boot up in Safe mode in order to remove a
virus.  I press F8 when the computer is booting up but instead of displaying
a list of options including "safe mode" I get

I have two computers on which I updated to IE7.0.5730.11. On one it works
fine. On the other, it looks completely different, mouse commands don't work,
tabbed browsing doesn't work, web sites don't load properly and I can't
manuever around them when they do open, internet options ...

whenever I connect new hardware to the pc (xp pro sp2) the hardware wizard
appears and fails to find a driver when I select the automatic search. But,
usually if I can find the inf file on the cd then I can force that file to be
used by the wizard by specifying that location.
