I couldn't find a "vista" newsgroup. Just bought and booted a new computer with Windows Vista Home Basic. Belarc Advisor reports the Operation System as "Windows 2000 Home Edition (Build 6000)"

I just installed VCom System Commander and suddenly, I cannot see me 2nd hard drive, Disc Management indicates that the drive is active, however, it is classified an an unknown partition with no drive letter and does not appear in windows explorer.

I e-mailed a guy off of Craig's List who has an XP Pro/SP2 disk and asked him if it was "Retail, OEM, or an Upgrade disk. His reply was "It's in a sealed DVD container" That was his total answer !!! Am I dealing with a scammer ??

My Compaq Presario laptop was destroyed by lightning, and now I have a Gateway laptop. I copied files from my old computer's hard drive to my new computer, but I don't know what to do about some CD image files which have HP/Compaq's "RecordNow!" format with the ".gi" file extension ...
